Description: This course will provide research-based education on the interconnection between physical and mental health. Application of this learning material will provide professionals with the information needed to better implement their own physical self-care as well as empower clients to incorporate some activity into their routine. We will dig deep to identify how specific practices impact specific areas of mental health. This training takes a holistic approach to different aspects of physical health and its many benefits.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this training learners will be able to identify:
- 2-3 different aspects of physical health
- 2-3 ways physical health can impact mental health
- 2-3 behaviors that positively impact physical health

Essential Ethics and Boundaries

Description: This course covers the legal and ethical guidelines to maintain professional boundaries. We will discuss ethical case examples to better understand what is expected when working with clients. This course will provide the basics to work through some dilemmas and make decisions that assist with boundary setting while protecting clients from harm.
IMPORTANT: This training fulfills the Appropriate Professional Boundaries requirement for NYS LMHCs and LCSWs/LMSWs which is required in each 3-year registration period starting April 1, 2023.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this course participants will be able to identify:
- 2-3 ethical dilemmas and how ethical problems occur
- 2-3 ethical principles of mental and behavioral health professionals
- 3-4 limits of confidentiality in an array of contexts including social media, consent, mandated reporting, and HIPAA
- 1-2 factors relating to informed consent and how it applies to ethics and boundaries
- 1-2 dynamics of dual relationships and the ethical damages that can come from such
- 2-3 tips for ethical decision-making and boundary setting including risk tolerance, cultural humility, and some decision-making models

Modern Client Engagement in Counseling and Therapy

Description: This course will cover the value of engaging your client in a continuous psychoeducational approach throughout the process of their counseling treatment; which in turn can foster rapport, and an improved overall outcome. Discussion will encompass the value of psychoeducation throughout the course of a client’s counseling experience that is supported by evidence-based research. Material will prompt discussion points that you can implement with clients to guide them in understanding the function of counseling and therapy treatment.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this course participants will be able to identify:
•1-2 techniques to guide client engagement and rapport building
•2-3 ways to communicate and exercise counselor niche, and skill set
•2-3 skills to guide client understanding of their diagnoses, treatment options, and the client understanding of the function of counseling and therapy
Learner must attend all three courses to receive 10 CEU.
Attendance and Evaluation Documents must be received the day of the event. One learner per registration.
