Description: Artificial intelligence (AI) tools are increasingly being used in mental health settings for documentation, administrative support, psychoeducation, and clinical decision-adjacent tasks. While these tools may offer efficiency and innovation, they also raise important ethical, legal, and professional concerns for mental health practitioners.

This 3.0-hour training is designed to help mental health professionals understand how to use AI tools responsibly and ethically within the scope of professional practice. Participants will explore common clinical and non-clinical uses of AI, examine potential risks related to confidentiality, informed consent, bias, and clinical judgment, and review ethical standards relevant to AI use in mental health care. The course emphasizes maintaining professional responsibility, protecting client welfare, and preserving the central role of human clinical judgment.

Through practical examples and applied discussion, clinicians will gain clarity on how to evaluate AI tools, set appropriate boundaries for use, and integrate emerging technologies in a manner consistent with ethical principles and professional standards.
