2.5 Live Continuing Education Hours of Credit (LMHC, LMSW, LCSW)

Location/Type: Virtual, Zoom

Description: Person-centered treatment planning is more than a compliance requirement—it is a collaborative, values-driven process that centers client voice, choice, and autonomy. This training is designed for social workers and mental health counselors who want to strengthen their skills in creating treatment plans that are clinically sound, culturally responsive, and aligned with regulatory and ethical expectations.

Using case examples participants will learn how to translate client narratives into clear, measurable goals, objectives, and interventions that reflect the person’s strengths, preferences, and context. The training will also address best ways to encourage shared decision-making into the treatment planning process. Participants will gain confidence in reformulating problem-focused plans into person-centered plans that support engagement, accountability, and meaningful outcomes.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this course participants will be able to identify:

  • 2–3 core principles of person-centered treatment planning (e.g., collaboration, autonomy, strengths-based practice).

  • 2–4 person-centered, measurable long-term goals and short-term objectives from a client vignette that reflect client voice and preferences.

  • 2-3 evidence-informed interventions that align with identified goals, client strengths, and cultural context for a given case scenario.

  • 2-3 strategies to incorporate social determinants of health, trauma-informed care, and/or recovery-oriented principles into the treatment planning process.

  • 2-3 methods for collaboratively reviewing and updating treatment plans with clients over time.
