NYS Requirement: Mandated Reporting Of Child Abuse and Maltreatment, March Offering

This course fulfills the NYS updated mandated reporter training requirements including, when you are legally required to call the SCR and when children and families may be more appropriately assisted through community-based services or other supports. Information on ways to reduce bias in the decision-making process of whether a call must be made to the SCR will be discussed. We will also cover the the impact of trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) on children and families as well as protective factors and the supports that you can refer families to in lieu of making a report. Protocols to reduce implicit bias in decision-making processes, strategies for identifying adverse childhood experiences, and guidelines to assist in recognizing signs of abuse or maltreatment while meeting virtually are all included. You’ll gain confidence in knowing when you must file a report and best practice to support the families you work with. As per the NYS requirements, all attendees will complete a 12-item multiple choice pre-test, and will complete the same test at the end of the training (minimum score of 70% is required, and attendees can take the post-test multiple times).
