This course will provide a comprehensive overview of mental health in the perinatal (pregnant and postpartum) population. This course will examine what makes the perinatal population unique in terms of mental health needs, risk factors, impacts and treatments. Treatment and assessment tools, therapy goals, and resources will be incorporated in order to provide the learner with new skills they may utilize with their own clients.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this course learners will be able to identify:
- 2-3 perinatal mental health disorders (PMHDs)
- 2-3 signs and symptoms of various PMHDs
- 2-3 risk factors and protective factors for PMHDs
- 2 or more assessment and tools that can be used with clients
